Meeting Point: Congress Center Düsseldorf, Entrance South
Fee: 23 € (19% VAT incl.)

A ride in a luxurious coach takes you along the famous shopping boulevard Königsallee ('Kö') with its exclusive shops and malls, followed by a short walk through the legendary old town, the Altstadt, - famous for its 260 inns and restaurants as the 'longest bar in the world'. You will learn that Düsseldorf has been a centre of fine arts for more than 200 years, that Paul Klee and Joseph Beuys have left their marks here, that the song of the Loreley would not even exist if it were not for Düsseldorf.... Across one of numerous bridges, the tour takes you to the left bank of the river Rhine. From here you have a beautiful view of the panorama of the old town with its landmarks. Past the magnificent art nouveau and Wilhelminian style facades of the Oberkassel district, return to the right bank and to the highlight of your city tour: a bird's eye view of Düsseldorf from the top of the Rhine tower at 168 m height. Enjoy the fantastic view of the city and river - and all the way to Cologne cathedral  if the weather is clear.

The city tour is especially arranged for the symposium delegates and their company. The price indicated is based on a minimum number of 25 participants.

The walk along the axis of art is complemented by fascinating visits to selected galleries in Düsseldorf. Here you will have the opportunity to talk to the gallery owners. Date: Monday 22 June, 2009
Time: 14:00-19:00 h
Meeting Point: Congress Center Düsseldorf, Entrance South
Fee: 35 € (19% VAT incl.)

Cologne‘s landmark, the cathedral, and the most important tourist destinations at a glance - a must for anyone wanting to to get to know Cologne. We guide you to the many attractions that are concentrated between cathedral and the Martinsviertel district. The town hall and the Romanesque church of St. Martin also are architectural highlights. Get a glance of the Roman Dionysus mosaic and the Jewish ritual bath, the Mikwe. In the narrow, cobble-stoned lanes of the old town or on Heumarkt square you will get an impression of life in the cathedral city, past and present. Highlight of the tour is the visit to Cologne cathedral St. Peter and Mary. Find out why the people of Cologne wanted to build ‚the world‘s biggest church‘. As it was difficult to realize this gigantic building project, it was completed in the 19th century only, after works had been at a standstill for 300 years. Surrender to the fascination of the luminous coloured windows from various centuries and see the monumental Gero cross from the 10th century. Finally, we guide you to the Golden Shrine holding the relics of the three magi.

A coach and a guide are provided for 5 hours. Included are a guided city walk through Cologne and a visit to Cologne cathedral. (Duration on site approx. 150 minutes).

The tour  is especially arranged for the symposium delegates and their company. The price indicated is based on a minimum number of 25 participants.

Please let us know if you will attend the social events on your registration form in order to enable us to make the appropriate reservations.

If the number of registrations for a tour is lower than the minimum number of participants, the tour must be cancelled.  Payed fees for cancelled tours will be refunded.
