InvitationDear colleagues, As the President of the International Union of Photobiology (IUPB) and as the local organizer we cordially invite you to attend the 15th International Congress of Photobiology, ICP 2009, to be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, June 18-23, 2009. In the past, the ICP congresses have been held every 4 years, but unfortunately, this schedule led to conflicts with other meetings held every two years. To avoid this inconveniency, we have decided to hold our Congress every 5 years. This is the first Congress to be held since 5 years cycle started. Specific and rather small meetings for special subjects are held frequently to exchange new results and to disseminate the new knowledge among the researchers in those fields. On the other hand, the International Congress of Photobiology covers a very wide range of topics of photobiology, from basic science to practical application sciences involving all kind of organisms. You can learn about interdisciplinary research and meet new colleagues from different fields. These new friends will stimulate new collaborations and may even lead to new concepts in photobiology. We highly appreciate that the Minister of Science of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, has taken the patronage of ICP 2009. This is a great honour for the IUPB and the local organizers. Düsseldorf is one of the economic and cultural centers of Europe so that many industries of foreign countries have offices there. Many foreigners visit the city to enjoy various cultures. As a result, the city is a perfect location to hold the International Congress on Photobiology. The Congress attendants will be able to enjoy not only the scientific program but also the culture from all over the world. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Düsseldorf and we will try our best in preparing an exciting scientific and cultural program for your everlasting memory. We look forward to meet you all in June 2009 in Düsseldorf – save the date!
